The State of Arizona and the USMTA Sanctioning body has implemented the following protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19These protocols will apply to all athletes, coaches, officials, and staff members.

COVID-19 TESTING requirements for in-state participants

PRE-DEPARTURE  COVID-19 TEST

Prior to departure, all participants who reside within the State of Arizona must submit proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 3 days prior to the weigh-inThis test must be taken on December 15, 16, or 17th. Send your test results to testing@usmuaythaiopen.com.  The deadline for submitting the pre-departure COVID-19 test is 11:59 pm MST, December 17, 2020 

DAILY SCREENING
All participants must undergo a brief daily screening and record a body temperature of 100.3°F (38°C) or less.  The USMTO will deny any participant if they fail to satisfy the screening requirements, including but not limited to:

  • COVID-19, common cold, or flu-like symptoms
  • Close contact with a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patient
  • A positive COVID-19 test

ARRIVAL COVID-19 TEST
All participants arriving to the State of Arizona via all modes of transportation must take an additional COVID-19 test when they arrive and as soon as possible.  This test’s purpose is to determine if a participant did not have COVID-19 upon departure and they may have contracted COVID-19 in-transit.  Out-of-state athletes must arrive no later than December 16, 2020 to ensure enough time to take the arrival COVID-19 (rapid) test. Send your test results to testing@usmuaythaiopen.com.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT REGULATIONS

*** Athletes and coaches are prohibited from sharing sporting equipment, including but not limited to:

  • Gloves
  • Elbow and shin Guards
  • Chest and head protectors

This new rule prevents the USMTO from loaning any competition equipment.  Athletes must bring their own equipment and the equipment must meet the specifications found in the official rules.  For your convenience, here are excerpts taken from the rules:

Head Protectors must be designed specifically for unarmed combat and must have a “full face” opening.

Shin and elbow guards must be designed specifically for unarmed combat and made of cloth.  Guards must not contain any rigid material.

Body Protectors must be designed specifically for unarmed combat.  Protectors must not contain any rigid material.

SCHEDULED WEIGH-IN

Athletes must schedule their weigh-in times.  Walk-ups will not be permitted.  

 

OUTDOOR-ONLY WARMUP AREAS

For your protection, there will be no indoor community warmup areas inside the competition building.  Warmup areas will be located outdoors next to the competition building. 

Phoenix averages a daily maximum temperature for December that’s between 65 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit (18 to 21 degrees Celsius). The minimum temperature usually falls between 43 and 46 °F (6 to 8 °C).   Please dress according to local forecasts. 

The USMTO will have a LIMITED number of private indoor areas for purchase.  

VENUE & LODGING

The competition area’s access is strickly limited to officials, staff, on-deck and competing athletes.

A LIMITED number of spectators will be permitted to enter the designated spectator balcony. 

Regretably, the USMTO will not contract with a host hotel or this event.  All participants must arrange their own lodging accomodations.

CODE-OF-CONDUCT AMENDMENTS

To protect the health and safety of participants, the USMTO has issued a temporary directive that prohibits reckless conduct that is likely to increase a person’s exposure to COVID-19.  The USMTO strongly advises that all participants adhere to enhanced safety measures.

  1. Maintain 6-feet of physical distancing whenever practical
  2. Wear a mask or face covering in when social distancing is impractical 
  3. Avoid congregating with other participants teams
  4. Avoid crowded indoor spaces

The USMTO will deny entry to any participant who has engaged reckless activities while the tournament is underway.  Reckless activities include visiting indoor entertainment venues, bars, lounges, clubs, or attending any large indoor gathering.  Participants are urged to anonymously report violations of this guidance to any USMTO or sanctioning official.

  • As of March 25, 2019, the State of Arizona will require all athletes ages 16 and older to undergo a blood screening for: Hep B/C and HIV
  • The state will accept tests taken within the CALENDAR YEAR.
  • The Official Physical Form (view & download below) must be signed by a licensed medical doctor (MD or DO). “NMD” credentials will not be accepted.
  • Pregnancy tests are required for female athletes age 16 and older.  Pregnancy test strips will be supplied at weigh-in/check-in.
  • BRING ALL OFFICIAL FORMS with you to the WEIGH-IN/CHECK-IN!

Due to COVID-19 occupancy restrictions, only 100 spectator passes are available for purchase.  Each pass will allow unlimited re-entry for one spectator and the pass can be shared an unlimited amount of times or re-sold!  Passes will be $100 each, but remember, they can be transferred or re-sold an unlimited amount of times!

Coach & Cornerman Passes

The coaches pass is $59 (including the mandatory USMF annual membership fee) or just $39 for active USMF members. The USMF Coach/Corner membership will be valid for one calendar year and will allow registered coaches to participate in all USMF events. Registration prices increase incrementally. Register now and take advantage of the lowest price. If no other athletes are in a division, you should still register to encourage others to join the division. We will attempt to merge divisions 30 days prior to competition, and if there are no matches, you will receive a refund of your registration fee.
