The State of Arizona and the USMTA Sanctioning body has implemented the following protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19. These protocols will apply to all athletes, coaches, officials, and staff members.

ALL EVENT DETAILS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL COVID-19 GUIDANCE AND REGULATIONS.
COVID-19 PROTOCOLS
PROOF OF A NEGATIVE COVID-19 TEST
At check-in, all athletes, coaches, chaperones, officials, and staff must submit either:
1. Proof of a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or rapid) taken on either April 27, 28, 29, 30 (within 72 hours of check-in)
OR
2. Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination with the last dose received no later than April 1, 2021.
DAILY SCREENING
All athletes, coaches, chaperones, officials, staff, and spectators must undergo a brief daily screening for COVID-19 symptoms and exposure. The USMTO will deny any any person if they fail to satisfy the screening requirements, including but not limited to:
- COVID-19, common cold, or flu-like symptoms
- Close contact with a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patient
- A positive COVID-19 test
COMPETITION VENUE
The Sheraton Crescent in North Phoenix will be the host venue and hotel for the 2021 U.S. Muaythai Open West Championships! For years, USMTO athletes and guests have enjoyed the comfort of this convenient and high-quality venue. The host is now offering a limited number of rooms for USMTO athletes, coaches, and visitors. WARMUP AREAS
For your protection, there will be limited access to any indoor community warmup areas inside the competition building. Additional warmup areas will be located outdoors next to the competition building.
Phoenix averages a daily maximum temperature for late April between 60 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit (16 to 30 degrees Celsius). Please dress according to local forecasts.
The USMTO will have a LIMITED number of private indoor warmup/break rooms for rent. Look for announcents regarding availability.
CODE-OF-CONDUCT AMENDMENTS
To protect the health and safety of participants, the USMTO has issued a temporary directive that prohibits reckless conduct that is likely to increase a person’s exposure to COVID-19. The USMTO strongly advises that all participants adhere to enhanced safety measures.
- Maintain 6-feet of physical distancing whenever practical
- Wear a mask or face covering in when social distancing is impractical
- Avoid congregating with other participants teams
- Avoid crowded indoor spaces

The USMTO will deny entry to any participant who has engaged reckless activities while the tournament is underway. Reckless activities include visiting indoor entertainment venues, bars, lounges, clubs, or attending any large indoor gathering. Participants are urged to anonymously report violations of this guidance to any USMTO or sanctioning official.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT REGULATIONS
*** Athletes and coaches are prohibited from sharing sporting equipment, including but not limited to:
- Gloves
- Elbow and shin Guards
- Chest and head protectors
This new rule prevents the USMTO from loaning or providing any competition equipment!
Athletes must supply their own gloves, shin guards, elbow guards and chest protectors (if applicable, see the quick reference below). To ensure fairness in competition, gloves, shin guards, and elbow guards must be obtained from Combat Corner, the official supplier of the 2021 USMTO West.
Athletes may obtain chest protectors from any reputable martial arts equipment supplier; however, chest protectors must be specifically designed for sparring (Taekwondo-style chest protecters are recommend).
Head Protectors must be designed specifically for sparring and must have a “full face” opening.
Shin and elbow guards must be designed specifically for sparring and made of cloth. Guards must not contain any rigid material.
Body Protectors must be designed specifically for sparring. Protectors must not contain any rigid material. Taekwondo-style chest protectors are recommended.

- As of March 25, 2019, the State of Arizona required all athletes ages 16 and older to undergo a blood screening for: Hep B/C and HIV
- The state will accept tests taken within the CALENDAR YEAR.
- The Official Physical Form (view & download below) must be signed by a licensed medical doctor (MD or DO). “NMD” credentials will not be accepted.
- Pregnancy tests are required for female athletes age 16 and older. Pregnancy test strips will be supplied at weigh-in/check-in.
- Bring all official forms with you to the WEIGH-IN/CHECK-IN!

Coach & Cornerman Passes
The coaches pass is $59 (including the mandatory USMF annual membership fee) or just $39 for active USMF members. The USMF Coach/Corner membership will be valid for one calendar year and will allow registered coaches to participate in all USMF events. Registration prices increase incrementally. Register now and take advantage of the lowest price. If no other athletes are in a division, you should still register to encourage others to join the division. We will attempt to merge divisions 30 days prior to competition, and if there are no matches, you will receive a refund of your registration fee.
